In my previous post, I showed how to convert a spare Cut & Sew cardigan into a simple miniskirt. Although it was a good start, I modified the original skirt into this:

As a side note, I haven't had altered anything else I've received from
Golden Tote (where the Cut & Sew cardi came from); I'm a huge fan of shopping with GT! However, this Cut & Sew cardigan is a rare exception, since it was both a duplicate item I received from the special January mystery tote and low in demand on the Facebook Golden Tote Trading Group. In any case, I've posted a tutorial for any of those interested!

Tutorial on GT Cut & Sew Cardigan to Skirt with Pockets Refashion
Materials:
- Golden Tote Cut & Sew Cardigan (similar cardigans should also work)

1. Follow steps 1 and 2 on the
previous post. Make sure the skirt fits your waist before proceeding.
2. With the skirt inside out, sew the bottoms of the pockets (dotted line in green). If you're satisfied with the pocket depth (try the skirt on!), go ahead and cut off the excess cloth (solid line in green). After sewing the pockets, sew the edge of the sleeve-turned-pocket to the edge of the collar/trim (dotted line in blue); note that not everything will lie completely flat after sewing the pocket down.

1) Sew and cut the pockets. 2) Sew the pocket to the skirt. |

3. At this point, you have your basic skirt with pockets! However, because only a few alterations have been made to turn the cardi into something more skirt-like, you may notice that the front folds of the skirt are a bit strange. To help counter this, I decided to sew the outside edge of the pocket to the edge of the collar/trim of the cardigan.
Grab the edge of the pocket and fold it over so that it meets the the inner edge of collar/trim (blue dotted lines). How far you choose to sew the pocket edge down along the edge of the collar/trim is up to you.

I hope this provides some inspiration. Feel free to leave any comments, especially about any additional or different alterations you might make.
